Daren Hidalgo Duty-Honor-Country To: Dallastown Wrestling Family and Friends... from Mr. John Childress. ∙ On Monday we received word that we lost a member of our wrestling family... not only at Dallastown, but the York County, PA State and National Wrestling family. 1st Lt. Daren Hidalgo was killed in the line of duty on Sunday, February 20th, while serving in Afghanistan assigned to G Company, 3rd Squadron, 2nd Stryker Calvary regiment. Daren was a 2005 graduate of Dallastown Area High School and a 2009 West Point graduate. 1st Lt. Daren Hidalgo was a member of the Dallastown wrestling team where he qualified for the District III's after winning a gold medal at the 2005 YAIAA AAA Sectional Tournament his senior year. Wrestling became a passion for Daren, as did serving in the US Military. Daren had a dream in case of a tragic event while serving his country... ∙ In lieu of flowers, Daren had asked for a memorial to be set up in his name to help Wounded Soldiers and provide assistance and scholarships for the wrestlers of Dallastown High School. Daren is STILL reaching out his hand and continuing to serve his country and assist those in need. ∙ If you wish to honor 1st Lt. Daren Hidalgo by supporting these causes... you may give to the Daren M. Hidalgo Memorial Fund. Daren M. Hidalgo Memorial Fund US Bank 2040 West Silvernail Road Pewaukee, WI 53072 ▪ The above is my Tribute to 1st Lt. Daren Hidalgo... Don |
