WRESTLER OF THE YEAR Gary Mayfield, Hanover: The senior captured the PIAA crown in his fourth trip,
earning him a fourth PIAA medal. He finished the season 44-2 and 165-12 for his career,
tying the best mark in District history!

Mike Anderson, Littlestown: The senior brought home a second straight PIAA silver,
this time at 119. He repeated as Regional, District and Sectional champion, going 39-2
and capping his career at 120-21.

Behler earned a sixth-place District finish after capturing his first Sectional crown at 160.

37-11.

Tyler Clinton, Eastern York: The senior ended the season 27-7, earned a second straight District berth at 215
and combined with Ed Fooks for a tough one-two Golden Knight punch.

Chris Dahlheimer, Kennard-Dale: The sophomore went 34-4 and reached the Class AAA Section IV
final at 135, earning his first spot at Districts, where he finished fifth.

Ed Fooks, Eastern York: He made his second trip to Districts in just his third year wrestling at any level.
There, he lost a 1-0 heartbreaker in the 275-pound quarterfinals to cap a 25-6 season.

Aric Fuhrman, Delone Catholic: He earned a second PIAA medal, this one for fifth at 145.
He won his first 38 matches before a state semifinal loss to the eventual champion. He earned repeat titles at

Chris Gonzales, Kennard-Dale: He compiled a 22-13 record and reached the District tournament in only
his second season as a wrestler with a fourth-place Sectional finish at 103.

Kyle Gorman, Littlestown: Gorman qualified for states after a runner-up finish to Fuhrman at Regionals.
He also earned silver medals at Districts and Sectionals, employing a deadly spladle to

Todd Lehman, West York:  The senior won his 2nd AAA Sectional IV title, but fell one
win short of earning a coveted PIAA slot at 171 lbs., finishing 4th at the 2004 South Central

Section IV AAA wrestling titles (03-04) at 171lbs.
Lehman also was a 2-time defensive player of
the year for West York Football and represented West York in the annual York County/Lancaster
War of the Roses Thanksgiving Football Game.

David Macy, Littlestown: The junior finished 30-9 and joined teammates Anderson and Gorman in the Regional tournament.  He reached the District 3 Class AA 135-pound semis before settling for third.

Brad Maggard, Hanover: The sophomore went 24-16 and surprised many by reaching the Regionals in his first
season in the lineup.  He earned that berth with a sixth-place District finish at 189.

Brandon Snyder, York Suburban: The freshman went 30-12 and capped an outstanding season with a trip to
states.  He placed fourth at Regionals and fifth at Districts.

David Sterner, Eastern York: The senior reached the Regional tournament with a fourth-place District finish at

YORK DAILY RECORD'S

2004 DIVISION I WRESTLING
ALL-STARS

Wednesday, April 14, 2004     YAIAA Division I All-Stars

WRESTLER OF THE YEAR Kyle Sprenkle, Spring Grove: The senior won his second straight PIAA medal,
this time for fourth place at 275 pounds. He recorded a 42-4 mark this season with a pair of regular-season
tournament titles to go with his Sectional championship.

Eric Albright, Red Lion: The junior finished the season at 34-6 with a third consecutive trip to the PIAA
tournament, where he lost a 1-0 decision to the eventual Class AAA 119-pound runner-up. A District 3
second-place finish followed his second Section IV crown, the first with the Lions.

Dustin Barley, Central York: He earned his second ticket to the District tournament with a 112-pound
Sectional title.  Barley compiled a 19-7 record in his first season with the Panthers after moving from Red Lion.

Cody Becker, Spring Grove: The senior capped a four-year varsity career with his first state tournament
berth.  The Rocket won the District 3 Class AAA silver medal at 140 pounds en route to 39-4 season.
Becker won all three regular-season tournaments and finished his career at 117-35.

Kelin Bidelspach, Spring Grove: The junior made his first trip to states after winning five straight District
consolation bouts to finish third at 130. He ended the season at 40-7.

Joe D'Orsie, Dallastown: He surprised many by reaching the Class AAA 275-pound District final, earning a ticket
to states. D'Orsie went 25-12 for the league title-sharing Wildcats and was a Sectional runner-up to Sprenkle.

Tyler Gladfelter, Dallastown: The senior went 33-10 and reached the PIAA meet in his first full season
of varsity wrestling. He finished third in the District 3 Class AAA 215-pound class, racking up a 27-second fall in
the consolation final.

by winning the 103-pound Sectional title.

final, to gain a berth at states. With a 29-12 record this season, the senior was a Sectional runner-up to
Nick Glatfelter at 125 after winning the 103-pound crown last year.

He reached the district Class AAA 215-pound final, beating Tyler Gladfelter in the semifinals. The Panther also won
the Sectional championship on the way to a 32-9 mark.

Braden Paules, Dallastown: The senior went 29-10 in his final season, advancing to the District championships
for the second straight season. He provided leadership for a young team that reached the Class
AAA District team tournament championship.

Class AAA 189-pound crown and returned from states with a fourth-place medal.

District tournament. He compiled a 33-7 record and won a dramatic 6-4 overtime decision in the 160-pound
Sectional final.
